The OPPTS 885.4050 Microbial Pesticide Test - Avian Oral, Tier I is an avian oral toxicity test conducted in accordance with EPA guidelines. Two bird species of differing diets (one insectivore and one herbivore, typically Bobwhite Quail) are administered a test substance orally over a period of 5 days and observed for 30 days or until all symptoms have subsided. Dosage amounts are calculated based on bird mass and chemical properties.
