OECD 246: Bumblebee, acute contact toxicity test
The OCED 246: Bumblebee Acute Contact Toxicity Test is used to determine the intrinsic toxicity of chemicals that adult worker bees may encounter, such as plant protection products. The test involves placing a droplet of the test substance onto the bumblebee's thorax and then after 48 hours, assessing the mortality rate amongst the test population compared with controls.
