OECD 247: Bumblebee, acute oral toxicity test
The OCED 247: Bumblebee Acute Oral Toxicity Test is used to determine the intrinsic toxicity of chemicals that adult worker bees may consume (for example through pollen contaminated with plant protection product residue). The test involves administering the test substance dissolved in 50% v/w sucrose solution to the bees and then after 48 hours, assessing the mortality rate among the test population compared with controls.
