OECD 426: Developmental neurotoxicity study

OCED 426 Developmental Neurotoxicity studies are in vivo tests used to determine the neurotoxic effects of repeated exposure to a substance on fetuses in utero and during early post-natal development. The method involves administering the test substance orally to females throughout gestation and lactation, and then performing daily assessments to define the effects of the test substance on health. These include measuring mortality and morbidity, detecting neurologic and behavioral abnormalities and measuring brain weight.
